Are you listening with a discerning ear?

Friday, April 9th, 2010

This past week has been pretty crazy. LOTS going on energetically. And if you have been in the midst of upheaval, well, you are not alone!

There is this fast flow of energy upon us that is just amazing. It’s this rush of pure power, flushing things out. And the way to deal with it—and what may feel like tumultuous change—is to sit in the middle of it and listen to your piece of the bigger sound.  When we do, things certainly feel much more gentle.

This rush of energy came in and definitely got my attention. I was seeing this energy as an orchestra. And the message I was getting was to be able to pull out the various sounds needed individually, from the whole.

We can listen with an ear that hears the whole orchestra or certain sections such as the strings or the percussion. What is needed now with all this energy is an effort to discern the various sounds from the whole, to hear what is needed for you.

When we can do that, we have the ability to tune in to what we need while still being able to hear the whole orchestra for reference. But the string section is doing something different that the percussion section. And in full spectrum of energy,  there is different information there for us when we can listen to specific parts of the whole.

This ability to discern is key now-a-days. It’s easy to get pulled into areas where we loose focus. And being able to discern what information is the information we need to move forward can only come by stopping and listening.

The question is, are you drawn to the string section? Maybe the horns are calling you in?

Find out. Be aware. Stop and listen….as there is clearly differentiated information coming in that we need to be listening to. And in doing so you will find that the whole orchestra begins to come back into perspective but perhaps in a new way which supports your expansion with more ease.

Did the Universe hit the pause button?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Life on planet Earth is rocky right now.

We are collectively grieving what is happening around us — with so many feeling the pain of the earthquake in Haiti and the suffering there.

There is such rapid change happening on so many levels that it has been hard to not feel out of control.

We feel this evolutionary change as our consciousness shifts, but so too does the planet. And when the Earth ripped apart, I think we hit a point where we needed a time out to manage the magnitude of that event, as well as all the other change that we are experiencing, both in and out of our conscious awareness.

The feeling I have, on an energetic level, is that a big giant pause button has been pushed, and we are being asked to stop and sit with what is right now. I’ve been describing it as a big pregnant pause, I guess in the hopes that when the pause button is released, we will all be birthed into something new.

Wanting to skip this and get beyond the suffering is a natural response. After all, this hurts. But keeping our hearts open now, when we are faced with such pain and stillness, is the way out.

So if you are feeling this slow down right now, this pause, you are not alone. I think the Universe hit the pause button to protect us — a mandatory slow down of sorts.

We have all been shaken up on some level.

With crisis comes a wake up call. And in this moment, I believe we are being asked to go within and find those places which hold us back from being fully present and fully able to step into a more expanded place with more light. It is time to let go of those things we know we can’t take with us as we embrace higher states of being and create a world full of compassion and support for all who need it.

So feel the pause.

Stop and let go of what you can, in order to get down to what is real. And then send that love and light to those in need.

Deep Listening

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Much of my healing practice is about helping people expand beyond where they are, to where they want to be as they move along their healing path and their own personal evolution.

But what happens when we find ourselves at a cross-road where we aren’t sure what is next?

That’s where deep listening comes in.

Listening deeply to ourselves not only requires a quiet mind to hear our own thoughts…but a turning inward of all the ways that we perceive in order to hear what is truly ours—what is the sound of our Soul.

As we let go of what is “not ours”—all those thoughts and beliefs that we’ve acquired along the way trying to please, fit in or meet expectations—we must find and call back our own true energy, which in the process we’ve given away or let go of. And as we do, we need to begin to tune ourselves to that energy.

Often this can be hard to do. Many of us are accustomed to listening to what is outside of us, or to those we have given our power to, and may not trust the voice we hear when we listen deeply. Some may not even know how to connect to that inner voice which speaks to us softly.

Here’s a little exercise to try:

Imagine for a moment that you can give back the energy you have taken, for whatever need you had at the time, to all those you have encountered along the way. Give them the gift of their energy back…as much as you can. If this “energy thing” makes no sense to you, just imagine scooping up all that is not yours that you hold within you at this moment, and send it back to its right and perfect place. In return, you get back all the energy you have given away, even all the energy that you have put upon others in your need to be seen, heard or understood…call that back as well. Imagine that coming back to you gently and let it settle.

Now, listen deeply in a way that lets you feel your energy. There is a tune, a vibe, a sense that we get when we are connected to our fullness and our Truth. And that’s what we hear when we listen deeply.

This is a way of listening that can take practice. The amount of static out in the world is great right now. But when we learn to move within and consciously become aware of what is truly ours and not ours, we can have an awareness of when we are listening to our own voice or not. We can to tune our ears to the radio station within, and hear our own story clearly!

And, when we learn to listen deeply and then act from that place, the path begins to unfold in front of us step-by-step in a way in which we can trust the process.

Honor your Truth by listening deeply to it. And when you hear what expands your energy and resonates fully, act. Take the next step on your path. The more you do, the more you will hear!
