3 steps to finding (or re-finding) your path

Friday, May 28th, 2010

I spoke with a client today who was in a place many of us have been at one time or another. She felt lost on her path.

Actually, what she really was feeling was that she had wandered off in one direction for far too long, and could no longer find her path.

If you’ve ever felt “lost” like this, you know it can be hard to recognize the signs to get you back on track.

From an energetic perspective, when we feel so disconnected from our “true north,”  it can be difficult to even access the information available to us, to see where we need to go.

So, how do we shift our perspective – completely change the lens we are viewing our life through – to see what’s currently out of sight?

When it feels like we have lost our path, it’s usually because we are out of sync energetically from our Spirit’s true north.

On a vibrational level, it’s like living on a different plane. In order to “sync up” and see the markers that show us the way, we have to look in a different way and connect to a different energy than where we are.

Here are 3 of my favorite ways to do that.

1. Get creative.

Creative energy is life affirming. You don’t have to be an accomplished artist,  musician or the like to be creative either. That’s actually not the creative energy that I’m talking about here.

But you do want to access and tap into the flow of creativity – for you.

That may be being artistic, but it can also mean taking a walk and becoming aware of nature. Cooking, listening to music, dancing…all these tap into that creative flow that is so powerful.

Finding whatever it is that opens you up in some way is where you will find the energy that can propel you forward.

Creative energy loves to be met with a playful heart. Here’s a blog post on the expansive nature of play that can help you engage with it!

2. Intend and Interact

Even if you feel lost on your path – and you honestly aren’t sure where you want to go – you can set an intention to get back on track.

Chances are, deep down, you really do have a sense of where your true north is. But if you can’t hold that energy in your own system, then it will feel like you have no idea of “what is what.” (If this resonates with you, jump to step #3.)

You don’t have to have all the answers to set an intention to find yourself and your path. Let the Universe meet you where you are. To do that though, you need to get out and interact with others. That’s where you’ll begin to see and hear things that intrigue you and set you on your way. Intentionally look for signs as you engage. They’ll be recognizable by their expansive nature!

Intend and interact. Let the Universe show you what you need to see. But you need to be willing to go in with eyes open.

3. Get help.

Healing is a team sport. Sometimes you just can’t see what you can’t see. And sometimes you have to do the work to let go and be able to access and hold within your own nervous systems and energy fields what is ready to come in.

Asking for help from a healer or coach can be what takes you to the next level.

Getting support and a different perspective from someone who can be a witness to you, can shift the lens from which you operate pretty darn quickly! And usually when we are stuck, it’s because we need that different perspective to help us expand.

The good news is we all have the ability to shift our experience and heal. And in doing so we step onto the expanded pathway and into what is next.

Your Spirit never looses the way. Spirit speaks to us in ways that feel expanding. So to find your path, engage your life in ways that expand you. In doing so, you’ll have opportunities to meet up with the energy that will reconnect you to your path.

So here’s to your expansion and finding (or re-finding) your path. Now is the time. Heal. Create. Expand. Are you in?!
