Put Your Money Where Your Thoughts Are

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

I recently taught a class where we spent the hour focused on what we wanted. We didn’t focus on particular things, but what we really wanted our lives to feel like…the whole kit and kaboodle.

And although this may seem like a relatively simple thing to do…it proved a bit harder than we originally thought.

Connecting to the feelings of our lives wasn’t that hard. What was hard, was staying focused and not letting our minds wander to some trivial “other matter” or allowing in the negative self-talk that often gets the mic.

I started looking at this within myself, because now—more than ever—it seem imperative that we focus our thoughts.

Change is afoot, there is no doubt about that. But change seems to be happening at such a rapid pace, that if we hang back in our old thoughts that no longer serve, we may find ourselves getting left behind.

The time is now for us to bring to life that which we intend for ourselves and for the greater good. The only way to work with an ever changing field is to jump in and be a participant.  And the best way to participate, on an energetic level, is through intentional thought.

But why is it that holding intended thought can be so hard?

To really give up letting our mind just wandering about, and our ego-driven thought process from running rampant, self awareness must take center stage.

We love our inner stories, our self criticisms and sometimes our obsessive worries. But our thoughts collude with our emotions and the next thing we know…we’re sinking fast into a nose-dive of a convincing, yet untrue, picture of who we are.

The way out? Begin to listen!

Yep that may sound simple, but it can prove to be challenging. But the truth is, our thoughts are not us. And, we need to take responsibility for what we are thinking.

We actually have a choice. You get to choose what story you tell yourself. You can either tell yourself a good story or a bad one. One where you take yourself down into patterns that no longer serve you, or up into new thoughts and ways of Being.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not talking about “Polly Anna” thinking here; but being responsible for what you think about and recognizing the correlation between thoughts and what you experience. And, that it is you and only you who can control what your thoughts are.

The more we can begin to catch ourselves in our thinking that may be negative or self destructive in any way, the more we can free ourselves from this. We can stop and shift gears, and begin to put our money where our thoughts are!

So here’s your challenge. Are you up for it?

Start with one day… and listen. Listen to what you are thinking as you go about your day. And when you catch the self destructive or critical thoughts full of negative vibes to self and others…stop.

Be kind to yourself but stop the thought. And choose another higher version.

You may be surprised at how often you have to hit the delete button in your thought realm. But the more you do, the more you will find your thoughts rising to the occasion of being in alignment with where you want to go.

Let me know how it goes!

Synchronicity: Where Thought and Intention Meet

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Synchronicity is one of those things that seems effortless. Those seemingly random events that come together and move us forward. It feels like they just fall in our laps. Usually it’s when we are on purpose—clear in our intent—that out of the blue comes the right person or situation that is just what we need.

Those synchronistic events, to me, don’t just happen. They are created. They appear for us when we have the clarity and focus to pursue our dreams in such a real way that they manifest.

Sometimes, it takes paying attention to recognize them; trusting that “gut” feeling to go this way versus that way. And when we are face-to-face with where we have led ourselves…we must be brave enough to accept the gifts sent from that place where our intentional thought and matter meet up.

To truly create those events in our lives that will move us forward, we must be willing to take the step through the door into the unknown when it appears. This begins, however, well before we encounter those magical moments.

Sometimes what is the most difficult part of all is staying on track and being vigilant in our thinking long before those synchronistic events appear. It can take commitment of mind and energy to focus our awareness on what we want, and not waver into the land of doubt and fear; which keeps us stuck in a negative feedback loop that can be difficult to finally get out of.

We are responsible for what we create. I know it may seem like we are at the mercy of what happens around us. But when we can really learn to reference our experience from our inner truth—what we know—then we begin to understand that those thoughts hold the clearest vibration and come to light. That may sound easy…but the truth it, it can be a difficult thing to learn.

We must be diligent in our awareness of what we see in our lives pointing us toward old beliefs that no longer serve. And we must trust that when we do embrace our inner truth in thought and action, that we have the ability to transform our reality.

If we are paying attention, we do meet up with those moments where thoughts and intention form into those magical synchronistic encounters that all of a sudden feel effortless.

And although those “chance” encounters and situations feel so juicy and full of possibilities to us, I believe it’s really here — where our thoughts stay true to our highest intention—where the magic really happens.

Thoughts do become form. But it is up to us to stay true to ourselves in our intent to create that magic.

10 Ways to Meet Your Intentions with Intention

Monday, August 17th, 2009

We’re heading into the dog days of summer (at least here in the northern hemisphere) and that can feel like a time of slow progress, if any. But it’s actually a great time to check in with ourselves on the intentions we set back in the spring for our inner work and personal growth as well as those relationships, jobs etc. that we wanted to bring to life.

According to nature’s cycle, we’re at the half time. So stand up, stretch and clear your head!

Here we are, heading toward the bend to the end of summer; where many of our creations are in full bloom. We may even be harvesting the rewards of our efforts! But for some of those intentions we made, it’s only natural to hit a few snags on the way.

That’s why this time of year is a great time to step back and take a good long look at where we are and where we want to be. We still have time to re-set our GPS, recalculate our route, get support and of course celebrate our successes with a nice cool lemonade!

10 ways to get on track with what you want to create for yourself this year:

1.    Be your own cheering section

Now’s the time to acknowledge what you’ve accomplished in the past 6 months or so. And, I’m not just talking about those things you’ve accomplished in the “outer world.” But look to see how have you grown or changed personally. What have you learned about yourself? Acknowledge the milestones, and don’t discount the baby steps you’ve made toward those things you wanted for yourself.
