Some Thoughts on Money and Abundance

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

I’ve been spending a lot of time this past month thinking about money and abundance. It came about because I’m leading some classes and healings on money and abundance (more on that below).

I scheduled these classes several months ago. Little did I know then that this month would start out with the media focus on money and the “debt ceiling,” and then continue on with some kind of scary economic news at every turn. I did quickly learn to turn off the TV.

Then there’s Mercury retrograde, which for me has played along, helping me highlight old beliefs to dust off and get rid of.

I’m not sure which came first here…my thinking about money or my old money issues that were ready to look at this retrograde season. It doesn’t really matter. When its time, its time.

So August has been all about money, and it has been really interesting!

Here’s what I’ve learned.

  1. Don’t be afraid of the money conversation. It may open up a whole lot of “issues” to work on, but it’s all good.

Everything is connected, so go ahead and open up the inner money discussion. Give yourself time to go through the layers to get down to what is really going on. I don’t care who you are, you probably have some feelings about money and abundance that are affecting your inner and outer experiences.

You have to get real. You have to understand what you are really thinking about and feeling every time you hear the word “money” or think about needing to buy something or whatever triggers that inner money reaction.

If you don’t know what you’re thinking about, you don’t have a starting place.

  2. Money isn’t about money…but exploring your relationship with money will teach you all about what it is about!

Money has a vibration all its own, and it is very co-creative. When we are in a good relationship with the vibration of money, we engage with it in a way that supports all of our dreams and endeavors. If you want to learn more about how your money vibe is working with or against you, start talking with it!

I started looking at my money vibe as a person. And at first, she was pretty mean and un-trustworthy! As I’ve worked with this, things have changed (thank goodness!) But what I saw in the process were all the beliefs that triggered a whole lot of nutty money stuff.

  3. We all hold a lot of old energy and energetic “structures” about money and our shared agreements about it… and it is time to upgrade!

Everything is upgrading energetically. That’s actually what is creating all this chaos (from my point of view).

As an energy worker I see us re-organizing energetically, and money is absolutely tied into this whole process. What we envision for ourselves — what truly wants and NEEDS to move through us — is a part of the abundance system.

As we shift our consciousness and begin to understand and actualize our higher visions for our work and lives, we begin to draw to us all that supports that…yes, even the money and the other abundant resources available for us.

So we need to re-organize. We need to understand what wants to move through us, so we can line up our energy behind that and truly manifest it…with a clear and deep understanding that this is what needs to happen in our lives. And in that, we can accept those resources (and money) with an open heart.

And that has a really different feel to it, than how most of us have been thinking about, and working with, money.

Many of us are learning all about this as we jump into our own money conversations. Where its lead me to, is helping people really get this…I mean energetically and consciously; and to begin working with it.

Are you having this conversation?

If so I’d love to invite you to a teleclass I am teaching called “Up Your Money Vibration.”  We’re going to work with all of this, and together “up” our money vibe!

How willing are you to “go there?”

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

I’ve noticed lately that I’ve been having a lot of conversations with clients about where they are willing to go in their healing and where they keep trying to avoid in the name of “staying in a positive energy.”

Now I’m all for people staying in a positive energy …except for when they’re really not there! You can’t kid a kidder. Eventually we have to go to the not so yummy stuff to heal.

Avoiding what is never works. And avoiding an energy that is present just means you bypass it for a little while. And when we do that we eventually end up right back where we started saying things like, “Why am I here again? I thought I was done with this.”

I’ll be honest, sometimes I squirm when people talk about the law of attraction. So often I hear of people trying to use just the tools often associated with working with the law of attraction (visualization or reaching for higher and higher vibrations) as a way of life. But those are tools. They are good tools — but just tools, and just a few of many to support our growth and healing.

It’s not until we are really able to hold a particular vibration — really have our full energy lined up with something —  that the law of attraction works for us.

The thing is, much of the time when people are struggling or in a healing process, their energy is pointing toward some place of healing, usually the not so high vibrations. And trying to hold that at bay and reach for only what we think of as “high vibrations” can sometimes keep us from truly healing.

It’s true, we can reach for that next best thought to help us shift our energy. And often as we are going about our day that is a great tool to use to keep us focused on what we have going on at the moment. Sometimes it is the best tool to help us function out in the world when we are really processing something internally. But at some point we have to drop into what is going on underneath.

Eventually we have to go there and see what’s up. And we need to make time to do this to move beyond where we are.

My motto is: working where we are is the only way to go through the process and really come out the other side. And I believe it is never as hard as we think it will be.

So I say, don’t be afraid of the not so yummy energy. If you are there, let yourself explore that. Set aside time in your day and let go of the next highest vibration and go into what is. Do so with an intention that you are there to explore, gain insight and then transcend. In other words …don’t move in and set up shop!

But by finally letting yourself feel and explore the vibrations that you may not really want to feel, they will show you what your unconscious mind is focused on. Then, and possibly only then, will you really be able to let go and stop going in circles around the issue.

Chances are each time you give yourself this gift, you really will find that next best energy and be able to fully hold it.

How to boost your visualization work. Envision first!

We hear a lot about visualization. The law of attraction says “like attracts like.”  We attract into our lives what we focus on. But how do we determine what we should be focusing on?

We all have those wants and needs on our life. The new job, that fabulous relationship …the list goes on and on. And lately there is so much focus on the law of attraction and manifesting our dreams that we seem to just dive in and apply this to just about every whim.

But really, it takes much more to manifest things in our life than simply keeping our thoughts on our goal. It’s true we want to keep our attention on the things we wish to create, but simply believing “as if” is a simplistic view of this energetic law.

Manifestation takes a deeper energetic commitment. If our energy is not lined up to what we wish to create then we can’t hold that focus. And to have our energy truly “lined up,” we must have some spiritual investment in our creations.

So how do we decide what is truly our deepest energetic need, our Spirit’s wish?

We don’t! It’s actually there already. All we have to do is be silent enough to listen and let it flow through us. Rev. Michael Beckwith calls this visioning.

Visioning is different than visualization. Visioning is about stepping out of the way and allowing the vision of your life to come to you. It’s about getting the feeling and the direction from that higher part of you that can set you on your way…with more ease and grace than your mind ever could.

To vision is to connect to what Spirit — your spirit — seeks to create. And the easiest way to find that is to sit in stillness and simply ask to open to that vision. And what comes from that can then be the focus for your visualization work.

Our spiritual practice is really a way of Being, a way of life. When we learn that spirit moves through us, we learn to let go and surrender to what we know is in process. We trust that when we connect to spirit, we’ll find what we need and it will indeed show us the way. When we operate in this way, we find that we are that — an extension of spirit — so we look there for what we need to do our work and live our lives in a way that enlivens us.

If you live in the SF Bay Area, and you’d like to experience visioning I invite you to join me for a special Summer Solstice vision workshop on June 19th called “Fueling the Fire to Your Life’s Passions: a workshop to envision and heal!”
