Your Gifts to Give

December 23rd, 2011

The other day, just out of the blue, I started thinking about a friend who, years ago, asked me what my gifts were in this life. At the time I had to really stop and think about what I considered my gifts to be. It was an upsetting process for me, as I really struggled with it.

I think this type of thing can be really hard for us to do sometimes. Many of us are taught not to recognize these things within us for a myriad of reasons. But really, it’s so important to recognize in ourselves what our gifts truly are.

And so as I sat with that memory, I decided to give it a go again and think about where I am now with this question. I let myself acknowledge what I see in myself, what I feel is valuable, and what I hear others share with me about what they see in me.

This time as I went through my inner inventory, it was a very affirming process, and a very different experience than when I was first asked this question long ago!

This got me thinking that this is a great “exercise” for anyone (and everyone) to do as we step into 2012 and into a year that I believe will bring us more and more into soul-full purpose. Certainly part of becoming more soul-full is understanding what gifts we bring to the table to share… right?

So…here’s a project for you. Are you up for it?!

Find a time to sit down, ground your energy and then let yourself think about all the gifts that you possess. Don’t hold back and don’t be shy! This is for you to feel what it feels like to own what makes you special, what makes you unique, and what you have to give.

Those things that you find which you have a hard time owning or can’t quite get to “land” in your body…keep working with them. You can even do a little energy work to help you lean into what may be keeping you from fully experiencing them.

Here’s an old post of mine that may give you some tips on how to move into and work with your energy and thoughts. And if you want to really dig into this and work with it, I have a home study energy work course to help you tune-in to your own energy and learn a powerful tool to get information for yourself about what’s going on within.

Give this little exercise a try.

It’s good to recognize and fully own your gifts. After all, to truly succeed as we move forward into our collective future, you’re going to need to be sharing them!

After the Winter Solstice: Into the light we go.

December 22nd, 2011

As usual, I spent time in-tune with the energy, and my energy, at the moment of the winter solstice this year. And as usual, I felt a shifting of energy that has left me feeling changed.

If you read my recent Winter Solstice: 3 ways to celebrate post, you may have joined me in that moment. I hope you did!

But, I thought I’d share what my experience was. And please, if you have a sense of the energy and how you were affected, please leave a comment below…I’d love to hear about it as we all work in different ways!

I’ve actually been doing a lot of work lately preparing for the solstice. I lead a group healing a few times a month called Expansion Calls, where we  work with the energy that is changing us — calibrating our systems and energy to the higher vibrations.

And the past two calls we’ve been doing work releasing core patterns and fears. In fact the call we had on December 20th was all about letting go of the unconscious fear we were holding so we could transform some level of energy on the solstice.

I’ve also been getting the message for quite a while now that this solstice would be ushering a deeper level of change. So, to be honest, I was expecting one of those sonic boom waves of energy moving through me this time around — which I’ve felt before.

But nope…what I felt was a lovely energy that I can only describe as star energy.

In fact the words “infusion of star energy” came to mind when I started to explore what was happening and what the feeling was that I had at the moment of the solstice itself.

This infusion lasted for a few minutes and then my attention started to shift gears and I was very aware of the energetics of my cerebrospinal fluid. Now I know that may seem weird, but in my work I dig down to those levels and the various systems in the body, so it’s normal for me!

The energy there does have a spiritual component to it. I’ve always felt the CSF and the system it works within sends spiritual info through the body from deep within the brain. But I digress…

So this wave of yummy energy came through me as I sat in my stillness last night. And then as suddenly as it began, it was gone. And off to sleep I went; where I dreamt  like crazy!

…And this morning? Well I still have a felt-sense of this energy that came through and I have to say a sense of relief. I’m still exploring what that’s about. It’s a relief at a deep level. It’s like something let go that I haven’t quite yet figured out.

Hmmm. A mystery to be explored!

Again, if you work with the energies and have an experience of the solstice to share, please do!

And now…into the light we go!

Winter Solstice: 3 ways to celebrate

December 20th, 2011

We’re in the dark of winter here (at least in the Northern Hemisphere), with winter solstice arriving December 21, 2011 at 9:30pm PST (December 22, 05:30 UT or GMT).

I actually like to know when the solstice is because there is something magical – certainly energetic – that happens at that moment.

I try to create a ritual or spend time in meditation at the time of the solstice if I can. It reminds me to feel the connection that I have, that we all have, with Nature and the consciousness that is held there.

Winter solstice holds a deep sense of devic energy for me — that energy that fuses with human consciousness to create form. There’s a feeling of a new beginning with the winter solstice, a fresh start. An energetic plan moves into place, which we work off of as we move through the seasons ahead.

The energy holds a level of information that I often describe as our building blocks or our blueprints to use as we go forward. In fact Machaelle Wright, founder of Perelandra and who works with and teaches others to work with nature intelligence, describes the winter solstice as a “celebration of the devic level and its role as architect.”

When you begin to connect to the energy at this level, it’s hard not to sense that deep, creative force it holds. This energy has a felt-sense to it too.

You can feel or sense this energy right at the moment of the solstice if you create the space to go within and listen. I often feel a wave of energy move through me. Sometimes it feels more subtle, and other times it’s like a sonic boom! But it always leaves me feeling changed. At some level there are new patterns taking shape that I begin to become aware of.

If you’ve never sat in meditation at that time, I highly recommend you do!

Lately we have been working hard, shifting our energies and letting go of old core patterns. The work that I’ve been doing with clients over the past weeks and months has been a deep releasing of fear and stepping into new energies. I think this type of work will continue on for some time. But my sense of the energy right now is that this solstice brings with it a fairly big transition of energy. And this transition will come easier to us if we’ve been doing our “inner work” and letting go of the old.

Sitting with the energy this solstice can be a powerful experience – it’s holding a lot of energy!

So here are a few thoughts on how you may want to celebrate this solstice and honor the energy.

  1. Create a sacred space or alter in your home. Collect the things that represent the changes that you have experienced this year and where you are going in 2012. Hold the intention with this alter that with the solstice, and the energy inherent in it, that you release all that keeps you from fully stepping into what you are creating.

Give yourself time to sit in silence with these objects and what they mean to you. And if you can, sit with them and your thoughts at the moment of the solstice. As I said, it’s a powerful time and connecting to that energy with awareness is emotionally and energetically moving!

  2. Create a vision board or mind map (as I did a few years ago) for what you are creating in your life. Upon completion, spend time in meditation or stillness and connect to that devic energy – that level of conscious intention where you know and trust that the building blocks are coming together. Even if you don’t know exactly what that means, just give it a go and trust that you and your energetic intelligence can find that place where you create in conjunction with Nature. And then… affirm your plans.

Notice what comes up for you emotionally or energetically as areas you may want to do some more letting go. But let this be a celebration of what is to come. You can even do some action to release this energy such as lighting a candle and holding the intention that as the candle burn you let go of all that holds you from your highest creations and creativity!

  3. Simply honor the light and the solstice itself. Light candles and create a celebration. Invite friends and family to join you as we experience the long dark night and usher in the light. Share stories of your hopes and dreams, have a feast, acknowledge the cycles that you are a part of and toast to each others’ health and well being…whatever moves you to connect to each other and to all that is.

However you celebrate, may you find the light in the dark; as it is always there.
