Here’s a thought (one of many) which I took away from Dr. Michael Beckwith’s talk at a conference I was at recently. He said, “Belief is a placeholder for what you know.” This of course made sense to me. But it’s been lurking in my mind these past few days.
Here’s my thought process. We have a belief, which we practice. We may even have an affirmation to affirm that belief over and over. We practice it enough and we get an “a-ha” moment—insight. Then, we have knowingness.
What has held me in this inner discussion is trust. In order for us to know something, we must first trust it to be so. I can certainly have a belief without fully trusting it…hmmm maybe. Maybe I’m kidding myself there. But somewhere in between practice and insight comes trust.
How and when does Trust move into form
Trust comes more quickly when we can reference our experiences to our big “ME” (our higher self or God self….) versus our “Mini Me.” Our “mini me” has a tendency to listen to other people’s “mini me” who don’t have it straight! And when we do, we often put our trust there versus placing it on the part of us that holds the knowingness in the first place…you got it, our big ME.
Until we can move our trust back onto our own core line of energy, insight and knowingness can’t come. We’re still giving our power and attention elsewhere.
I comment on this not because its necessarily new information. But because I had one of those “a-ha” moments today around trust and knowingness. And the conversation really was between my mini me and the big me. The big ME gently reminded me that all that is around me was created by where my attention went to. And that the easiest way to focus my attention on what needed to be created, was to deeply connect with this part of me; ME. Let go of the noise out there which doesn’t hold that element of truth and trust.
There was such an amazing simplicity with this. I spend a lot of time in this place conversing with this part of me, yet today felt different. By completely shifting my connection to that full energy of ME, all things felt possible and quite simple.
So knowingness moved in today by means of shifting my trust within. The next word that comes to mind is gratitude!
