I’ve recently been devouring information from inspirational leaders in the field of consciousness and personal motivation. I’ve been jumping on teleclasses, conference calls and reading constantly. This came about when I realized that when I was engaged in this, I seemed to be getting this informational—almost inspirational—download. My energy increased as I caught the spark from those I was learning from.
Most recently I have been reading Jack Canfield’s book “The Success Principles.” Now I’m a pretty organized person. I have a lot of “success tools” under my belt. And I was reading along, getting an “aha” here and there until I came upon the section where the exercise was to list 100 achievements or life successes. I stumbled! (Actually insert a big crash noise here!)
I realized how easy it is to just blow right on by our daily achievements and not acknowledge our success. Honestly, I do it every day. And what makes it worse, when we do, we are saying to the Universe, “These things just don’t matter so don’t bother with them in the future.” I thought about this realization long and hard.
So I decided to put this to a challenge. Knowing that it takes 30 days to change a behavior and alter the neural pathways in our brains, I decided to take the next month and really acknowledge and really validate my successes, everyday. In fact, at least 5 of them.
For a serial “success down-player” like me, this has been a challenge! I’m on day 3, and I have to admit I start to write things down and hear myself questioning if something really counts. As you see, I have my work cut out for me!
My point with all this is to recognize how important it is to acknowledge what we do each and every day, even if at first glance we think it isn’t a big deal. Our thoughts matter. What we think sends out our requests to the Universe. When something needs to be acknowledged or noted as important to us in some way, we must validate it.
If I won’t acknowledge something is important and mark it as a win…why should the Universe? But, if I think about my success, feel the emotion of it, and act in a way that furthers this, then the Universe can join in and give me more of the good stuff. And thus, I build my success.
So I put this challenge out to you as well: Join me and take the next 30 days to really stop and acknowledge your successes each and every day. I believe it will change us each fundamentally.
Stay tuned. I’ll keep you up to date on my rehabilitation through blog posts over the next four weeks!
Here’s to success!
