As I write this, I’m aware of holding onto something with a tight grip that needs to be let go. I know this, yet it’s hard at times to allow myself to be held in what I know will heal me. I go back to all that I have learned and all that I know to be true for guidance. But really what it’s about is surrendering. It’s my mind that holds the fear. And the longer I stay in my mind, the tighter the grip is. I chose to surrender and things become much easier.
Surrendering. It can be scary to do as our minds try to run the show. To do this we must fully move out of our minds. But, we are hard wired to think and control—to sort through every detail it seems…real or imagined.
I have no doubt that as we move into higher vibrations, each and every one of us is being asked to let go of old energy, old patterns that are no longer useful. These requests seem to come at an increasing speed as the need to shift our energy becomes more critical for our Soul’s evolution. I also have no doubt that how we do this is changing. Energetically speaking, in the past, we have needed to wade through the details of our issues in order for our minds to eventually let go of the energy of the event. What I see now is that the energetic-process has shifted.
In both my personal work and my work with clients, I see that less and less we need to wade through the grubby details of all the pieces of what we are holding onto, and more and more we are being asked to just let go. Our consciousness has shifted to a place where we can heal much more quickly. What we need to gather from an event or personal pattern will be made clear to us as we move through our healing. It’s our mind that thinks we must keep every piece of our experience to sort it all out—often holding it tight with a death-grip. But, our Spirit “gets it” oh so quickly these days. We can actually loosen the grip the mind holds, allowing the peripheral energy to simply let go. Without this back-log of information, the bigger “Aha’s” can move through with less clutter or distortion.
Just to be clear here, I am not saying we can avoid understanding, or that we can breeze through things with an air of denial. Not at all. But, how we process information is changing.
We can begin to understand and heal in a much simpler way. Spending too much time on the mind’s unraveling of something actually holds us back. As consciousness expands and the vibrations that we hold become lighter, we have an easier time connecting to the Truth, or the depths of understanding, by working with energy in its higher form. Using old tools no longer works.
What are the new tools? Well, energetic healing is about re-configuring energetic information. And the way we get there is to surrender and allow healing to come to us; to allow our energetic intelligence to work with the energy. As we do this, images and understandings can come to us as well. The trick here is that when we get the “Aha’s,” we also let go of those as easily as they came. Once you “see it,” trust that the energy can re-configure. It does not need dissecting.
As an energy worker I look for ways to support this re-configuring of energetic information when I work with clients. But there is a way to hold this same intention when you sit and do your own healing. The intention here is to not sort through it all, but to play with the idea of re-configuring or re-assembling energy patterns to then hold the clearest vibration for you. As you do this, your energy (and the information it holds) will actually look clear, feel clear or sound clear to you, as if jagged edges smooth out and line up. Staying focused on the energy and not the details is a very powerful approach to healing. It’s that shift from focusing on why there is distorted energy to the end result of allowing the distortion to release and re-pattern as needed.
So coming back to your mind…give yourself permission to not know all that it thinks it must when it comes to re-living past experiences or patterns that need healing. Much of what our mind holds is its own version of the truth anyway! Allow the energy to come and surrender to it.
Here is what I do: (You can also listen to my meditation “Allowing and Receiving” for support.)
1. Get quiet and connect to your core energy. Move out of your head and into your body. Ask that your energetic intelligence guide you in your healing.
2. Ask to be shown what is needed and then watch. If you move into thinking, come back to your center.
3. As you find those thoughts that you know are connected to what you are working on, or are charged for you, simply ask that that energy be lifted off and out of your field. Imagine it lifting off and transforming into Source. And let it go. Don’t worry about what its doing, what it meant to your mind…just surrender to the process—a process that your mind can not understand.
4. Come back to center and follow what needs to happen until you feel a stillness or completion for now.
5. Let that integrate without asking your mind to try to sort it out. Again, your mind has its own agenda and most often it isn’t on the same page as what is really needed by your Spirit.
Certainly if you need help and support with something you are working on, please do go get it. Working with someone who can help hold the energy for healing can be very helpful. But trust that the more we can access new ways of working and let go of the old healing forms that no longer compute…the easier our healing process will be.
So here’s to letting go and calling in the new!

To take it a level further, your energy intelligence knows exactly what to do as well in healing. When we loosen our mind’s grip and follow the energy – and it’s unique intelligence – we can easily let go and “let” ourselves heal.
“How to Loosen the Mind’s Grip and Surrender” is a great blog topic Stacy, thanks! I’m chiming in since I just re-read the Tao of Pooh (a lovely book) and Pooh seems to have this figured out by ‘ just being Pooh’… (sigh!)
The Pooh Way is the Wu Wei principal of “doing without doing”, which (my words) tells us to listen to our intuition and not our mind. When we do this our mind doesn’t need to be analyzing; we don’t need our mind to tell us what to do – we just follow our gut instinct and let the circumstances play out. Our Spirit instinctively knows what to do in a situation — like a musician at one with his/her instrument – the mind or intellect doesn’t come into play when a beautiful melody is played.
With the mind of Wu Wei we can loosen our mind’s grip and surrender.
